Who is The Diamond Co.?

 The Diamond Cois a dance company dedicated to providing a low-barrier safe space, for African American girls and women, to bond socially, release emotionally, and express creatively through various styles of dance.  Our vision is to cultivate confident, ambitious young women,  resulting in increased community morale and fearless performers. Our style: an embodiment of HBCU dance, hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary.

 

We are looking for young women, ages 14+ (adults welcome) to join The Diamond Co. (DCO) and girls ages 9-13 to join Our Precious Diamonds (OPD) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Becoming a Diamond Dancer will expose you to technical dance training from experienced professionals and collegiate dancers, performance opportunities, mentoring and more! All of these services are offered to our Diamonds at a very affordable rate!

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is there an audition or tryout required to make the team? No. We do not audition candidates for the Diamond Dancers. All are welcome and no one will be turned away. During our Open Registration Event(s), we simply categories potential members into groups that will allow us to see who needs more help/training than others. No previous dance training required.

  • What fees are associated with being a member of the team? All members of the team pay a tuition of $85 a month. This tuition covers professional training in Hip-Hop, Turns & Technique, & HBCU Dance per week, rehearsal time, performance & exposure opportunities, and a variety of other benefits. 

  • Will uniforms cost extra? There are performance fees; however, will work to fundraise for uniforms, travel, and scholarship opportunities! Fundraisers can also be utilized to pay tuition fees.
